Petrobras posts new record for pre-salt oil output
Nielmar de Oliveira reports from Agência Brasil
Boosted by the activity in the pre-salt oil fields of the Santos Basin, Petrobras reached a record high in June for oil and natural gas production: 2.81 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (oil and gas combined).
Of this amount, 2.7 million barrels were produced in Brazil and 113 thousand abroad. In the national fields alone, production averaged a daily 2.2 million barrels, up 0.6% from May this year.
The figures released today by the state-control oil giant also indicate that the oil output operated by the firm and its partners in the pre-salt oil layer hit two new highs in June: the monthly rate—an average 1.35 million barrels of oil—and the single-day production on 19—1.42 million barrels.
